DETROIT – For the second time in two months, thieves have smashed through the brick wall of Detroit store to steal liquor, cigarettes and lottery tickets.
A & W Food Center owner Al Watha said three men used a sledgehammer to break in to the store on Mack Avenue just before 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Watha estimates the thieves stole between $8,000 and $15,000 of goods.
Despite the recent crimes, Watha said he stays in business because he believes in serving the neighborhood.
"We've been at this store since 1968. My brother and I started running it in 1978. We've been here for 40 years," Watha said.
The store does have surveillance cameras.
