DETROIT -

Polycystic kidney disease, also known as PKD, is one of the most common, life-threatening genetic kidney diseases affecting thousands in America. That's why participants will walk for the cause September 14, at Boulan Park, in Troy, Mich.

The 2013 Walk for PKD is made up of patients, family, friends and supporters.

It's the signature fundraiser for the PKD Foundation. In 2012, the walk raised nearly $2 million.

Those looking to help can make donations. On average, 90 cents of every dollar of donations for the walk goes directly to the PKD Foundation to support their mission.

People wanting to help can also join the walk as a team captain, participant or volunteer. For more information, click here
