3 shot while sitting in car in Inkster; police investigating

Victims' injuries appeared to be serious, police say

INKSTER, Mich. – Three people were shot in Inkster Saturday.

Police said two women and a man were shot while sitting in a vehicle at Carlysle Street and Moore Street, west of Inkster Road, when someone opened the door and fired several shots. Their injuries appeared to be serious, police said.

"It's a little scary. This block is a great block," Edwar Johnson said. "We normally look out for each other."

Investigators knocked on Johnson's door looking for clues.

"They just ask if we saw or heard anything," Johnson said.

It's believed the shooter ran from the scene toward Williams Street a block away.

Local 4 News spotted officers methodically searching backyards for evidence as they search for clues to lead them to the gunman.

The police activity is becoming all too common for this neighborhood.

"This is not the first incident to happen in the area," Johnson said. "I believe something happened a few months ago. So not sure who did anything or what happened."

While the circumstances of this triple shooting continues to unfold, it appears the shooter clearly targeted the minivan. The question looming is why?

"I pray for them. I'm not sure exactly the situation was," Johnson said. "I hope everyone is OK.

There are no motives or suspects in custody at this time, police said.
