Time running out on funding for Department of Homeland Security

DETROIT – The Department of Homeland Security is one of the most important agencies in our country, but will Congress pass a bill to keep its funding? The deadline is midnight Friday.

If the money does run out, what happens to all the feds who patrol our border -- the busiest in North America?

John Boehner was asked by the D.C. Press Corps whether the House would pass a so-called clean funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security.

Both parties agree the Department of Homeland Security needs to be funded, but the GOP-controlled house wants a funding bill that has riders attached to it that would defund President Obama's immigration initiatives. Those immigration riders are what the fight is all about.

"In these challenging times, it is critical that the Department of Homeland Security receive a full year appropriation," said Jeh Johnson.

Just this week, the Department of Homeland Security was involved with stopping three Brooklyn men the feds say were trying to get on a plane to join ISIS.

Back here at home, we had a scare at the tunnel in late January.

Michigan's border crossing is the busiest in North America, so there are plenty of uneasy eyes on Washington in the metro.

UPDATE: Congress passes 7-day extension to keep funding Homeland Security
