The 4,600 sq. ft. temporary public skate park is partly designed by Tony Hawk. The project is produced by Library Street Collective with assistance from Cranbrook Art Museum.

"It’s exciting to see the skate scene continue to thrive in Detroit, and it is an honor to help with this project,” said Tony Hawk. “I think we made good use of the space thanks to Ryan, Bedrock and Quicken Loans, and planted the seeds for bigger, more permanent parks around Detroit in the near future."

Wayfinding, the name of the project, will open to the public on Wednesday, August 16. The park is scheduled to remain open until Monroe Blocks construction begins, currently slated to break ground in January 2018.

“It’s a long time coming for Detroit to have a state-of-the-art skateboard park, and we are proud to partner with Tony Hawk and others to make it happen,” said Helen Johnson, Quicken Loans Vice President of Strategic Investment.

Complementary to the downtown Detroit project, Ryan McGinness will launch an ambitious exhibition at Cranbrook Art Museum with support from Library Street Collective in November 2017. The exhibition, Ryan McGinness: Studio Views, will consist of a large-scale installation based on his studio practice and a presentation of drawings and iconography created from artworks in the Museum’s collection.
