Takata air bags can inflate with too much force and spew shrapnel into the vehicles. The faulty inflators have been linked to more than 100 injuries and 13 deaths worldwide.

This week reports from the 17 automakers that have been included in the recall thus far are expected and could lead to additional recalls.

Toyota has now recalled more than 4 million vehicles in the U.S. for Takata air bag issues.
