Trailer spilling acid after it flips on M-14 near US-23

Westbound M-14 closed at US-23 in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Traffic began to start moving Friday afternoon in Ann Arbor after a flatbed truck flipped on M-14, spilling acid from a train car it was carrying.

Police said the truck crashed near Barton Drive just after 7 a.m.

The roadway was shut down for the clean up of benzene dicarboxylic acid, which is used in the manufacturing of food and beverage plastics, dyes, perfumes and medicines.

It doesn't pose a danger to any residents in the area.

The truck's driver wasn't seriously hurt and no other vehicles were involved.
