Trial nears end in slayings of 2 Hamtramck women

18-year-old Abreeya Brown and 22-year-old Ashley Conaway were tortured, killed in February

DETROIT – Jurors are expected to begin deliberations Friday in the trial for four men in the abduction, torture and killing of two Detroit-area women who were taken at gunpoint.

The case involves the February deaths of 18-year-old Abreeya Brown and 22-year-old Ashley Conaway.

Closing arguments got under way Wednesday and continued Thursday in Wayne County Circuit Court. Authorities say the women were forced into a car trunk outside their Hamtramck home. Their bodies were discovered in March buried in a Detroit park.

The women were bound and shot in the head.

Brandon Cain, Brian Lee, Reginald Brown and Jeremy Brown are charged with first-degree murder, torture and unlawful imprisonment. Co-defendant Miguel Rodriguez made a deal earlier.

Cain and Lee were convicted in August in an earlier shooting incident involving the women.
