A football player from Troy Athens High School has been diagnosed with MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus).
The principal says the freshman was treated immediately after being diagnosed. He has not returned to school.
Areas of the school from the locker rooms, cafeteria and classrooms have been disinfected.
The principal believes the campus is safe for all students.
MRSA is a type of staph infection resistant to some antibiotics.
