DAVISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Both directions of I-69 at Irish Road are shut down for the clean up of a truck explosion.
The truck, which was carrying toxic materials, crashed through a guardrail and went off an overpass just after 11 a.m., landing on Irish Road and exploding.
The driver was not hurt.
Police are clearing one mile west and one mile south of the area because of smoke coming from the hazmat situation. Anyone who lives in the area is being asked to stay indoors.
MDOT said the stretch of interstate could be closed for up to 12 hours.
Drivers can try Bristol road, Coldwater road or Carpenter road as possible alternates.
