TSA rolls out changes to pat-downs

DETROIT – Everyone will now be patted down the same.

The Transportation Security Administration says it has made changes to how agents will perform pat-downs on travelers.

The agency says the pat-downs do not involve any additional areas of the body and passengers will still be patted down by an agent of the same gender.

Before the change was rolled out, agents chose from several different types of pat downs when a traveler set off a metal detector or were flagged.

The change means agents will follow a standardized pat-down procedure.
