The Twitterverse was silenced Thursday when the site went down.
"Users may be experiencing issues accessing Twitter. Our engineers are currently working to resolve the issue," read Twitter's state blog.

The crash comes one day before the 2012 Olympic games kick off in London. The flurry of the games are expected to bring an unprecedented amount of traffic to the site.
