HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -

Authorities say an investigation shows a 50-year-old woman shot and killed a man before fatally shooting herself in their apartment.

The Macomb County medical examiner's office on Friday determined the deaths of 40-year-old Troy Benjamin and Anne Marie Goodell as a homicide and a suicide.

Autopsies were performed Friday.

Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said deputies responded Thursday afternoon to the Harrison Township apartment, about 20 miles northeast of Detroit, following a 911 call from Goodell's daughter.

The sheriff's department says neighbors reported hearing gunshots around 3 a.m. Thursday -- more than 12 hours before the 911 call -- but didn't call police.
