ANN ARBOR, Mich. - A crime alert is being issued after a University of Michigan student reported she was sexually assaulted on campus.
The assault happened around 12:45 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Sunday. The victim told police she was sexually assaulted by a man she met at an off-campus party. He walked her to the West Quad residence hall and reportedly assaulted her in a lower-level common area of the building.
The suspect is described as an Asian male, 5'6" to 5'8" with short black hair.

Meantime, the University of Michigan Police Department issued the following advice to reduce the risk of an attack:
o Be aware of your surroundings and look assertive
o Walk with a trusted friend or co-worker when possible
o Trust your intuition -- if a particular situation makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, choose an alternative
o Utilize campus transportation resources
o If you feel threatened on campus, look for a blue light emergency phone or call 911 from any phone (no coins needed for 911).
