UAW-FCA agreement: What you need to know

Here are important facts to know about the UAW-FCA negotiations that ended Wednesday night with a proposed tentative agreement.

What are the details of the new deal:

The UAW says it won't release information about the "proposed tentative agreement" until it is approved by the UAW National Chrysler Council.

What's next?

The UAW National Chrysler Council meets at 11:00 a.m. Friday to vote on the contract. If the Council approves the agreement, the rank-and-file will vote on the contract.

How much strike assistance am I due?

Weekly strike pay is $200 a week, beginning on the 8th day.
Strike pay is avilable after the 15th day of the strike.
Temporary employees are covered if they are dues paying members.

What medical benefits are covered?

The UAW Strike and Defense Fund covers certain benefits such as medical and prescription drugs. Benefits not covered include dental, vision, hearing and sick and accident.

Can I collect unemployment benefits while on strike?

The law varies by state, but in many states participation in a strike will disqualify a worker from eligibility for unemployment insurance.

How do I apply for strike benefits?

You must register and make application for strike benefits on the day and time assigned to you by your local union.
