University of Michigan police: Female students report being approached by strange man

Police say man has asked for dates, tried to kiss one woman, in areas on North Campus

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – University of Michigan campus police are looking into several reported incidents of a strange man approaching female students on North Campus.

Police said they have had several women come forward since April 19 with similar descriptions of a man who has gone up to them and asked for dates -- and in one case tried to kiss one of them.

The incidents happened around Bursley, Baits and the North Campus Recreation building.

Police describe the man as having a dark complexion or olive skin, perhaps of Middle Eastern or Italian decent, with a heavy accent, in his 30s with dark, shoulder-length hair.

In one incident, he rode away on a bike.

Anyone with information on the man or the incidents is asked to call campus police at 734-763-1131.
