The U.S. Coast Guard says it rescued two people from a small vessel that was prevented from getting to shore on Lake St. Clair by strong winds.
Authorities got a cellphone call Sunday morning about a canoe that was adrift and the boaters were unable to provide their location.
The Coast Guard obtained the vessel's coordinates from a cellphone provider and a helicopter and boats were sent to the area.
The two people were taken to a hospital for treatment of hypothermia. The Coast Guard described the vessel as a 9-foot raft with no engine.
Names of those involved weren't immediately released.
