VIDEO: ACLU posts dashcam video of violent arrest during Taylor traffic stop from last year

TAYLOR, Mich. – The American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan obtained dashcam video of a violent arrest from April 2016 in Taylor and sent a letter to the Taylor Police Department on Tuesday requesting an investigation, policy revisions, appropriate discipline, and urging the department to retrain officers.

The ACLU posted the video to social media.

According to the ACLU of Michigan, 26-year-old Calvin Jones was pulled over April 16, 2016 with his wife and younger brother in the vehicle. Jones allegedly refused to provide his license and registration until he was given an explanation for the stop.

The video shows the officer break the driver’s side window and backup officers put Jones in a headlock.

The officer claims Jones ran a stop sign.

The Taylor Police Department released the following statement:

"We received this complaint two days ago.  We take all complaints seriously. A thorough investigation will be conducted. I will refrain from any comment until the investigation is complete."
