NOVI, Mich. - Video from the backseat of a Novi police car shows a school principal accused of driving drunk on school property getting out of her handcuffs.

Deerfield Elementary Principal Kim Warren, who has been placed on paid administrative leave after the arrest, was arrested April 8 after she was suspected of being intoxicated in her car on school property.

Warren was handcuffed and placed in the backseat of a police car where video shows her slipping out of the cuffs.

She tried to hand the cuffs to the officer who told her not to throw them out of the window.

Warren was arraigned Monday on open intoxicants in a vehicle and high blood alcohol content charges.

Lisa Fenchel, longtime principal at Novi Meadows, is serving as interim principal at Deerfield Elementary.
