HARPER WOODS, Mich. – The dash cam video from a St. Clair Shores police cruiser capturing the wreck that killed 20-year-old James Bush is difficult to watch.
Back in July, Bush was riding his motorcycle on his way home from work to have dinner with his mom. At the same time, a police officer had just made a U-turn at 8 Mile Road near Beaconsfield Street and was about to conduct a traffic stop on another car.
As that officer turned, Bush's was bike approaching. Bush appears to have tried to maneuver his bike to avoid impact, but he couldn't.
After the crash happened the officer jumped out of his cruiser to check on Bush. The young man, who had dreams of serving in the National Guard, was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead about 40 minutes after this wreck.
Michigan State Police took over the investigation right after the crash. They have now turned the case over to the prosecutor's office.
The prosecutor's office is reviewing the video and other evidence and will make a decision on if there will be any charges in this case.
