Video shows Melvindale officer dragged down street

MELVINDALE, Mich.It started as a routine traffic stop and ended with a Melvindale police officer being dragged more than 100 yards down Schaefer.

Only on Local 4 you see the video of this officer making the initial traffic stop. As he's talking to the 56-year-old diver, the driver takes off. The officer grabs the wheel of the car and the driver keeps going, dragging him more than 100 yards until he loses his grip on the steering wheel and goes bouncing and rolling into traffic like a rag doll.

Luckily, none of the oncoming cars hit him. The officer picks himself up, dusts himself off and starts walking back to his squad car when another driver slows down to see if he's okay.

Somehow, he managed to get out of this with only road rash and bruises. The driver, Anthony Rhodes, turned himself in. He's been arraigned on two charges: Fleeing and eluding an officer and resisting and obstructing an officer. The judge gave him a $100,000 bond.
