Video shows what caused semi-truck to overturn on I-75 in Detroit

State police are looking for white car, its driver

DETROIT – Video shows what caused a semi-truck to overturn Monday on southbound Interstate 75 at Interstate 94 in Detroit.

Michigan State Police say the crash was captured by a GoPro on another vehicle traveling southbound. The footage shows a white Chevrolet car try to cut back into traffic at the I-94 exit ramp. The driver apparently did not see the semi-truck to the left.

The car struck the truck's cab, sending it out of control before it overturned and crashed into the freeway median wall. The car kept traveling southbound.

The truck driver is OK. No serious injuries were reported.

The crash happened about 10:50 a.m. and the southbound lanes of I-75 were closed for hours.

State police are looking for the white car and its driver. The vehicle should have heavy damage to the driver's side quarter panel.

Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact Trooper Ferguson at the Metro State Police Post at 248 584-5740 or Metro Dispatch at 313 237-2450.
