DETROIT – A public viewing will be held Sunday for a 9-year-old Detroit boy who was "Chief for a Day" in January.
Jayvon Felton died Monday, nearly a year after being diagnosed with leukemia.
Jayvon's one-day gig was coordinated by police Capt. Darwin Roche and the Children's Hospital Foundation.
Detroit Police Chief James Craig said Jayvon's trip to police headquarters "reminds us ... how important every precious moment is."

"The Detroit Police Department would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Jayvon Felton, the little boy who touched all our hearts with his beaming smile and captivating personality," the department said in a statement.
The viewing will take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the McFall Funeral Home at 9419 Dexter Ave. in Detroit.
Jayvon's funeral is set for 11 a.m. Monday at the Hartford Memorial Baptist Church at 18700 James Couzens Freeway in Detroit.
The Detroit Public Safety Foundation has established a fund to help with expenses for Jayvon's funeral. To donate, click here and go to the "Donate Now" tab. Next, select the Jayvon Felton Fund in the "Gift Destination" box. Officials said 100 percent of the donation will go to helping Jayvon's family.
