GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Vice President Joe Biden told workers at American Seating Co. that they're an example of how U.S. companies can prosper by keeping production at home.
The 125-year-old Grand Rapids company makes bus seats as well as seats for stadiums. It has never moved production overseas and gets most of its parts from Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.
Biden said Wednesday that the White House wants to eliminate incentives to ship jobs overseas. He says those incentives put U.S. companies at a disadvantage.
The vice president says the administration wants to offer tax breaks to companies that close overseas factories and return jobs to the U.S.
Biden's visit Wednesday comes less than a week after President Barack Obama visited the University of Michigan to call for more affordable education.
