Family members mourn a Warren father killed by hit-and-run driver

WARREN, Mich. – Julian Hayden would have loved to be a the subject of a TV news story, just not the one that has taken him away from his adored wife Marta and their three small children.

You look at his pictures and you can see why his family and friends say his smile  revealed a larger than life personality. “He had this charisma, people were drawn to him,” his wife Marta told us.

Hayden was on his way home from the nightshift at Ford Motor Company, a job he’d gotten because the automaker had done a push to hire veterans, Hayden spent ten years in the Army.

He was about to turn the corner to his home near 8 mile and Groesbeck when an 18 year old man blew through a red light and slammed into Hayden going about 40 miles an hour.

Hayden was on his motorcycle and didn’t survive the crash.

The 18 year old who hit him had a 23 year old friend in the car with them and they took off but Warren Police have since tracked the two down. “I feel sorry for you,” Marta said. “You have no idea what kind of person you took from us.”

Marta Hayden had been a stay at home mother to their three children under 6. That will no longer be a possibility.

She’s only 32 and has a lot of responsibility she will now be facing alone. “As soon as I heard the news I gathered all the kids together and scooped them up and told them what happened and we’re a team and we’re going to stick together.”

Her family has setup a gofundme page which you can access by clicking here.
