When the officer arrived all four suspects attempted to flee. The officer got out of the police cruiser just as one suspect hopped into a car and drove over the curb.

The suspect's car struck the officer and pinned the officer up against the patrol car. The officer was able to fire three shots but the fleeing driver continued west on Continental before hitting a stop sign.

The driver abandoned the car and ran but was apprehended a short distance away.

The officer, who is a two year veteran of the Warren Police Department, was transported to St Johns Macomb Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The officer was later released from the hospital.

An investigation determined that the suspect had attempted an armed robbery at the Continental residence. Four people, three men and a woman, were taken into custody.

The case will be presented to the Macomb County Prosecutors Office on Monday for review.
