'Wasn't Me!' Man claims ghost punched wife

Authorities: Michael West charged with domestic abuse, strangulation

Suspects in police custody can be pretty creative with their alibis and excuses, but a man in Wisconsin has gone one step further by claiming supernatural shenanigans are to blame for striking his wife.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office said Michael West, 41, was arrested after his wife told deputies that he attempted to strangle her twice, and then punched her in the face when she called 911 for help, The Northwestern reported.

According to the publication, when questioned about the alleged incident, West told deputies that, "A ghost did it."

West was then charged with domestic abuse, strangulation, battery, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

West did not offer comment on why he felt the otherworldly entity may have gotten involved in the fracas.
