Crews are working to repair a 12 inch pipe which caused a very large water main break on Detroit's west side.
The intersection of McNichols Road and Evergreen Road was closed in both directions after the break was reported overnight.
There are several homes along that stretch of roadway that have been flooded. The water is so high in some areas that residents are unable to leave their homes.
Detroit Police say they believe cold temperatures are to blame for the pipe burst.
Repairs are expected to take several hours. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
