Wayne County Commissioners approve deficit elimination plan

Commissioners approve plan with 8-6 vote

DETROIT – The Wayne County commissioners approved a plan Thursday that aims at eliminating nearly a $200 million deficit.

The plan passed with 8-6 vote.

Two previous plans presented by Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano have failed.

Wayne County Chief Financial Officer, Mark Abbo, had told the commissioners earlier this year that if something wasn't done, the county could be facing state intervention.

The state had already approved the latest plan, pending a commission vote.
