Wayne County Medical Examiner identifies body found in Riverview landfill

Medical Examiner's Office says body found in Riverview Land Preserve is 29-year-old Grosse Pointe Park man

DETROIT – The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office has identified a body found Tuesday in the Riverview Land Preserve.

The body is a 29-year-old Grosse Pointe Park man. The Medical Examiner's Office has not yet determined a cause of death. They are withholding the man's name while the investigation continues.

The landfill is located on Grange Road and is owned by the City of Riverview, which is about 15 miles south of Detroit.

Police say trash comes to the landfill from several locations, including from Canada. The body was found in a section used for disposal of larger home items.
