Two spots on the Wayne County sheriff's office Dive Team will be up for grabs during tryouts in Brownstown Township.
Deputies seeking to join the 10-member team will be tested Thursday morning on their swimming ability, comfort level in the water and other skills at Brownstown Middle School.
The Dive Team is responsible for recovering drowning victims and evidence from bodies of water in Wayne County. It also assists with Homeland Security issues along the United States and Canadian border.
Officers are assigned to the team on a part-time basis.
The sheriff's office Marine Unit patrols all waters in Wayne County, including the Detroit River, Lake St. Clair, Lake Erie and Belleville Lake.
