ROMANIA – A strange sight in southern Romania is getting a lot of attention. A chicken has adopted four kittens even though the kittens' biological mother is still around.

When the cat mother leaves her kittens even for a short time, the hen jumps in to take care of the kittens. At night she covers the kittens with her wings. The hen and the cat mother have an uneasy relationship now. Sometimes the hen evens pecks at the adult cat.
The woman who owns both the cat and the chicken says both are good mothers to the kittens.
