WDIV Local 4 seeks a full time Web & Digital Editor for television news website and mobile apps. We are looking for a leader who can speak geek talk to developers and producers, while also talking great journalism with our newsroom. The ideal candidate can lead a team of web editors and inspire great storytelling on all platforms, knows the value of building discussion through social media and can improve our mobile offerings. This person also understands a great website must include compelling video, intriguing photo galleries and other relevant information. Must have proven success at building audience and at leading projects and people including a team of web editors and a social media producer.
Responsibilities: The Web & Digital news editor is responsible for creating and posting day-to-day content for ClickOnDetroit.com. This includes articles, images, videos, media galleries and other web-related projects. The position is also an integral part of our social media coverage, including posting and monitoring daily. The editor is also responsible for creating content for WDIV's mobile apps. The ideal candidate should thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, high-pressure environment and possess strong AP-style writing skills and technical knowledge. Strong communication skills are key because the Web & Digital Editor will be an advocate and leader for ClickOnDetroit.com in the newsroom and beyond. Hours may include nights, weekends and holidays.
Qualifications: Prior supervisory experience preferred - Must have proven journalistic experience and ability to develop talent and work in a team environment - Must have excellent communication, customer service and conflict resolution skills - At least one year experience in online journalism, social media and SEO - College degree in Journalism/Communications preferred - Able to multitask and perform in a fast-paced environment - Strong AP-style writing and proofreading skills (candidate will take a writing test) - Sound editorial judgment - Proficient with digital tools similar to ibPublish2 content management system, iNews newsroom system, image editing software and basic HTML.
