Prince, 57, found dead in Minneapolis
Pop superstar Prince, widely acclaimed as one of the most inventive and influential musicians of his era with hits including "Little Red Corvette," "Let's Go Crazy" and "When Doves Cry," was found dead at his home on Thursday in suburban Minneapolis, according to his publicist. He was 57.
His publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, told The Associated Press that the music icon died at his home in Chanhassen.
"He rewrote the rule book, forging a synthesis of black funk and white rock that served as a blueprint for cutting-edge music in the '80s," the Rock and Roll of Fame said in its dedication. "Prince made dance music that rocked and rock music that had a bristling, funky backbone. From the beginning, Prince and his music were androgynous, sly, sexy and provocative."

Man thanks officer who bought his daughter a car seat
Tuesday night Local 4 introduced you to Lavonte Dell, the Inkster man whose Facebook post about a traffic stop in Westland went viral.
Dell got the opportunity Wednesday to thank the officer who he says changed his life.
Dell hugged Westland police officer Joshua Scaglione and thanked him for his selflessness. Earlier this week, the officer stopped Dell for tinted windows, but noticed that his 3-year-old daughter wasn't in a car seat.
"It changed my whole outlook on life because he didn't have to do what he did," Dell told Local 4 News.

Joe Gentz lays out case against Bob Bashara
Judge to Jane Bashara's killer: 'This isn't a game'
The man serving time for the murder of Jane Bashara was due back in court Thursday afternoon and took the stand after advisement that he could face further charges by testifying.
Joe Gentz made a shocking claim that Bob Bashara had nothing to do with the murder of his wife Jane in 2012. He also said police coached him on what to say in court.

Gentz's plea deal could be taken back by prosecutors if he does testify and he could open himself to new charges such as conspiracy.
Gentz told Judge Vonda Evans he wished to testify after his attorney spoke with him twice over the past week and advised him of the possible consequences of perjury.
"This isn't a game," Evans told Gentz. "I have no control over what the prosecutor's office can do."

Murder suspect's wife says she cleaned knife for him
The wife of a man who is charged with murder in the death of a Troy mother testified Wednesday that he told her he had killed someone and asked her to clean a knife with bleach.
Tonia Stephens said her husband, Charles Stephens, told her, "(expletive) just got real," when he came home on March 21 and threw a knife on a bed in their home in the Somerset apartment complex on Golfview Street.
Kalpana Murali-Babu was found dead in a neighboring apartment after police went to check on her after she didn't pick up her 10-year-old and 7-year-old children from school.
"I was scared for myself. Yes, I lied," she said.

Harriet Tubman to replace Andrew Jackson on $20 bill
Some of your money is getting a makeover.
Treasury Secretary Jack Lew announced Wednesday the decision to keep Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill and place Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill.
Moreover, there will be some changes to the $5 bill that will feature civil rights era leaders.
Harriet Tubman was an African-American abolitionist. She rescued approximately 70 enslaved families using the Underground Railroad. She died in 1913, at age 91.

Woman whose baby died in garage: 'I made a mistake'
Angela Alexie convicted of murder in infant son's death
An Eastpointe woman whose newborn baby was found by recycling workers after she left it to die in a cold garage was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Tuesday.
Police said Alexie gave birth to the boy in a garage shortly before Christmas in 2014. A medical examiner testified during Alexie's trial that the boy froze to death.

His body was discovered at a recycling center on Jan. 14, 2015, when it came bundled in cloth down a sorting line.
"I made a mistake. I wish I could take it back," Alexie said at her sentencing.
Terminally ill Michigan dog dies after fulfilling bucket list experiences
A terminally ill Michigan dog who captured thousands of people's hearts as he made his way through a bucket list of experiences has passed away.
Buddy's "humom," Loren Cazan, said Monday that the more than 14-year-old dog who had cancer, "Looked at me and his eyes told me it was time."

Houston area hit by record floods
Harris County Judge Ed Emmett said Monday more than 1,000 homes were flooded after severe storms in the Houston area.
"This is a rain event that's very significant, no question about it," he said. "Many of those homes haven't flooded before."
"There is water all over the place, there is flooding all over the place," Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said.
The Houston Fire Department said it completed 723 water rescues during Monday's flood event, deploying 13 boats and 19 high-water vehicles.
Between 14-17 inches of rain was reported in the Katy, Bear Creek and Cypress areas. Tomball, Klein, Spring and Jersey Village communities received an average 13 inches of rainfall; Greenspoint, Aldine, and other neighborhoods along White Oak, Greens and Halls bayous received an average 6-8 inches of rain.

Red Wings fan pours beer on Tampa Bay player
Detroit knocked out of playoffs in 5 games
A video posted to Instagram late Sunday night shows a Detroit Red Wings fan pouring a beer on Tampa Bay Lightning center Brian Boyle.
The Red Wings won the game 2-0, but things got a little physical again at the end.
As Boyle and Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader exchanged words, a Red Wings fan is seen chucking his full beer at Boyle. The fan then proceeds to walk away.
Detroit went on to lose Games 4 and 5 of the series. It's the second straight year the Lightning has sent the Red Wings home in the first round.
