Tigers knocked off Yankees, 4-0, in home opener Friday

The Detroit Tigers enjoyed another opening-series sweep to kick off 2016, marching into Marlins Park and topping Miami ace Jose Fernandez and new $80 million man Wei-Yin Chen.

They overcame a ninth inning bullpen collapse to secure an 8-7 win on Opening Day. Justin Verlander allowed three runs in six innings after carrying a no-hitter into the fifth inning and Ian Kinsler, Victor Martinez and Anthony Gose each hit home runs.

Lawsuit filed against police over arrest on St. Patrick's Day

Travis Hermiz says officers grabbed his neck, pinned him down

A man whose arrest in Royal Oak on St. Patrick's Day went viral after it was recorded on cellphone video has filed a lawsuit against the city's police chief and four officers on allegations they used unconstitutional excessive force.

Travis Hermiz, 25, was at Black Finn on March 17 when he got into a physical fight with another man, Stuart, after Hermiz saw Stuart get into an altercation with a woman he was talking to, the lawsuit said.

Hermiz was escorted out of the bar by bouncers. “It appears that the Black Finn bouncers may have mistaken Mr. Hermiz for the individual named Stuart who had attacked the two girls and then headbutted Mr. Hermiz," the lawsuit said.
