Who is tackling the heroin problem in metro Detroit?

Local 4 Defenders, Dr. Frank McGeorge team report on growing heroin problem in metro Detroit

It is an epidemic sweeping Metro Detroit from the city to every suburb - heroin. 

The Local 4 Defenders and Dr. Frank McGeorge have teamed up with a series of special reports on the drug and its impact on metro Detroit -- Heroin: the Hidden Crisis.

Tuesday beginning on Local 4 News First at 4, they will report on what local police and judges are saying about the heroin problem and the rapid increase of drug overdoses and how people can get help.

Addicts will share how they went from hero to zero because of their drug addiction.   Others will share their emotional stories of how the drug has changed the lives of their addicted love ones and themselves.

McGeorge will show how heroin affects the body, what it does to the brain and why it has such a hold on people.

The Local 4 Defenders will also look at who is behind heroin and the awful way it is being brought into metro Detroit communities.

From 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., Local 4 will also open it's phone bank offering viewers access to experts from the Brighton Center for Recovery, Families Against Narcotics and Growth Works Incorporated  to answer questions and point people in the right direction for help.
