Windsor Public Schools cancel all U.S. field trips until clearer immigration decision is made

All public schools with planned field trips to the United States from Windsor within the next month have been canceled pending the outcome of possible new immigration laws in the United States, a spokesperson from the Windsor Public School Board says.

"Yes I can confirm that all school organized field trips to the U.S. have been suspended until at least the end of the month. This is due to uncertainty about possible entry restrictions. said Scott Scantlebury, Windsor Public Schools Board spokesperson. "We have decided to wait and see if any clarity develops so that we will be confident that no students attempting to cross will be rejected at the border."

The news of the canceled field trips comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order barring entry from citizens of Iraq, Iran, Sudan. Syria, Libya, Yemen and Somalia.

The immigration ban was blocked by a judge in Seattle and remained blocked after the case went before a federal appeals court.

After news of the block broke, President Trump immediately tweeted in all-caps, "See you in court, the security of our nation is at stake!"
