Witness says man was shot outside Detroit liquor store after 'snatching' at women inside

Police search for 2 men who shot 26-year-old man

DETROIT – Shots were fired outside a Detroit party store last week in what a witness is calling an act of violence to protect others.

The shooting at the liquor store that sent a 26-year-old man to the hospital in critical condition was captured on surveillance video.

Police are still trying to investigate the shooting, but the video shows exactly what happened.

A woman who witnessed the shooting said it was to protect others.

"I was scared to death," she said. "I was scared to come out of the store."

Outside, the 26-year-old man was walking around the back of the store when he encountered two men with guns.

"They came out to their truck, right there I guess, they grabbed their guns and chased him around the corner and they were shooting," the witness said.

Multiple shots were fired at the 26-year-old man, who police said sat outside the store for hours before going to the hospital for help.

The witness said the shooting happened because of the 26-year-old man.

"He got to acting crazy," she said. "It was two girls in here. He was trying to feel under the girl's dress."

She said he was throwing things in the store.

"He was snatching at all of us, every girl in there," she said. "He was snatching, throwing us up against the thing."

She said the two shooters were protecting the women.

Police are trying to identify the two men with the guns as the 26-year-old recovers in the hospital.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Detroit Police Department.
