Wixom firefighters rescue man from icy pond

WIXOM, Mich. – Wixom firefighters rescued a man who drove his truck into an icy pond Monday afternoon.

According to authorities, a 60-year-old man lost control of his pickup truck while driving on Oak Creek Drive and drove into an industrial retention pond.

Chief Jeff Roberts, of the Wixom Fire Department, put on a survival suit for cold water rescues and helped the man onto the truck’s bed liner.

Roberts and Lt. Jason Breitmeyer helped the man crawl across a ladder from the back of the truck to the shore. He was transported to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.
