WAYNE, Mich. -

A two-event event kicks off Friday in honor of fallen Wayne-Westland Firefighter Brian Woehlke.

Woehlke had been with the department for 10 months when he was killed May 8 responding to a strip mall fire.

He was the first firefighter to fall in the line of duty in the department's 47-year history.

He leaves behind a wife and young daughter, Ava.

Woehlke-Palooza will be held at U.S. 12 Bar & Grill at 34824 Michigan Avenue in Wayne.

Tickets are $10.

Activities being Friday at 5 p.m. and include a country music concert, rock show Saturday with WRIF, firefighters games, cook off, a rolling water ball, combat challenge and corn-hole tournament. There will also be tactical demonstrations by firefighters.

Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. is Family Fun Day with activities for children including ice cream eating, hula hoop contest, musical chairs, clowns and face painting.

Food, drinks and a DJ will be available for the event inside and outside on the patio.
