Woman, 65, attacked before being carjacked in Detroit

DETROIT – Lezanna Brown Scott says the moment she turned her head, the man reached inside the car and attacked her.

It was 8 p.m. Sunday. She never saw the man hiding behind a sign in the parking lot.

"He came up and said, 'What are you doing out this late?' And when I looked -- I didn't know him -- and that's when he hit me in the face," she said. "He opened the car and dragged me out and I just covered my head and said, 'Please don't kill me.'"

Once she was out of the car, the man punched her again and kicked her to the ground.

"Real violent. He didn't have to hit me like that and drag me out of the car," she said. "He might have ran over me. I threw my hands up."

The man took off, leaving the 65-year-old woman beaten and fearing for her life. The car is similar to a white 2007 Chevrolet Impala SS. Scott's car also has a jaguar hood ornament.

"My husband always said don't fight over a car. If they want the car, let them have it. That's what I did," she said.

A quick trip to the store for some snacks has changed her life forever.

"You don't think things like that will happen to you. That's when you have to pray some and hope they don't kill you," she said.

Scott said she won't go out after dark anymore and she hopes this criminal is off the streets before he does it again.

Police say the attacker is a black man in his 30s ho is about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. He was wearing dark clothes.
