Woman charged with using pepper spray inside Chuck E. Cheese

Troy police say no one had to be taken to hospital after incident Saturday

TROY, Mich. – Troy police say a 19-year-old woman has been charged with releasing pepper spray inside a Chuck E. Cheese because someone near her was "messing with her stuff."

Police said Robin Charleston, of Hamtramck, was arrested Saturday at the Chuck E. Cheese on John R Road when police responded to a call about several customers coughing and even vomiting. No one had to be taken to the hospital, but police said Charleston had her 2-year-old daughter with her.

Police said Charleston first told them her personal pepper spray canister had gone off accidentally, but later said she had sprayed it into the air when she thought someone was taking her food, tokens and purse.

Charleston was charged with disorderly conduct/disturbing the peace, a 93-day misdemeanor.

She has since been released on bond.

Her next court date is April 29.
