Woman cited for driving 2 mph under limit

Maryland police say 63 mph in 65 mph zone is too slow

A woman in Maryland was stunned after being ticketed for driving 2 miles per hour under the speed limit.

The woman, who did not want to be identified, told Washington, D.C., TV station WRC that she was driving on Interstate 95 in Laurel when she was pulled over by a police officer and ticketed to driving in the left lane for commuters.

Winds were gusting up to 40 mph that day, so the woman had slowed down to 63 mph in the 65 mph zone to be safe, WRC reported.

She said she'd never been ticketed before.

The local branch of the AAA called the ticket "silly" and said it sends the wrong message.

The woman plans to contest the ticket in court.
