VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich. -

When you see what's left of Amber Malmsten's Jeep, it's hard to believe she survived.

"When I woke up I was looking upward and the guy in the purple shirt was like, 'Help is on the way,' and I'm like why is help on the way? Nothing was dawning on me and then I felt my legs start burning," she said.

That's because her legs were pinned underneath 40,000 pounds of cargo. She was trapped for more than an hour as EMS raced to pull her from the wreckage

"I really truly do believe something was with me," she said. "Because I don't understand how everything got ripped off the whole top of my car and yet I still have my head and shoulders."

Meanwhile, her husband Jason got a phone call from his father that's there been a terrible accident and its Amber's Jeep under the truck.

"I didn't know if she'd be alright. If she was going to have missing limbs, if she was going to be paralyzed. I didn't know," said Jason.

Amber says she was desperate to get back to her two young sons and afraid she'd lose both of her legs.

"I just started, you know, 'Wiggle your toes. Wiggle your toes Amber. Keep the circulation going. Wiggle your fingers.' You know, you have all this going through your head," she said.

Miraculously, Amber walked away without a single broken bone, just some bruising to her right eye.

"Something, I don't what, like ripped my soul out of my body for a few seconds," she said.
