Woman dies from injuries after hit-and-run outside motel in Farmington Hills

Warrant issued for Tarrel Dewhite Johnson

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – A 22-year-old woman who was run over in a hit-and-run accident Saturday morning in Farmington Hills died from her injuries Thursday.

Romonia Edwards, of Detroit, was hit in front of the Bahama Motel on Grand River Avenue at about 5:20 a.m. She was taken to Beaumont Hospital.

Police believe the vehicle that fled the scene is a new model red or maroon Chrysler Town and county that continued eastbound on Grand River Avenue. The vehicle does not have a metal registration plat and has a temporary registration in the back window.

The Farmington Hills Police Department named Tarrel Dewhite Johnson as a person of interest Saturday.

The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office issued a two count warrant Wednesday for Johnson. The charges are failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in serious impairment or death and operating without a license.

Johnson is described as black, 6 feet tall, weighs 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
