Woman killed, 4 others injured in west Detroit shooting

Woman killed, 4 others shot, including 15-year-old girl, near Carlin and West Chicago streets in Detroit

DETROIT – A 60-year-old woman was killed and four other people, including a 15-year-old girl, were injured in a shooting Wednesday night near Carlin Street and West Chicago Street on Detroit's west side.

The 15-year-old girl suffered minor injuries. A 58-year-old man was shot multiple times. His condition is not known.

The other two victims are a 32-year-old woman and a 24-year-old woman.

All four who were injured are at a hospital being treated.

What happened:

Police say a group of children, around age 10 or younger, were playing outside. One child was told by an adult to go home. The child went home and came back with his parents and their friends.

The two groups of adults started fighting. One adult pulled out a handgun and a shotgun and started firing into the crowd.

One neighbor said there were easily more than 10 shots fired.

Police believe there was one shooter. They are looking for two men who fled the area after the shooting.

No arrests have been made.

With this shooting, 75 people have been shot in the city of Detroit since May 1.
