Woman rescued after SUV rolls into marina in Van Buren Township

Woman expected to be OK

VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A woman was rescued Friday from an SUV that was partially submerged in the water at a marina in Van Buren Township, officials said.

Aerial video showed officials pulling the SUV out of the water, damaging several docks.

Officials said the woman thought the vehicle had been parked near the marina, but it was not in park. The car rolled into the water and floated there, becoming partially submerged.

The woman was halfway in the water when the owner of the marina and another man helped her keep her head above water until the fire department arrived.

Firefighters rescued the woman from the SUV. She was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to be OK.

Police spoke to the owner of the marina at the scene. They are continuing to investigate the incident.
