DETROIT – A Romulus woman will spend at least two decades in prison after being convicted of second-degree murder for killing an 8-year-old boy.
Kimberly Garrett was sentenced Tuesday to 25 to 50 years in prison, and 10 to 15 years on an operating while intoxicated causing death charge. The sentences will be served concurrently.

Prosecutors said Garrett had heroin, Xanax, and cocaine in her system in June when she hit Kayale Fruge in a Westland neighborhood.
Fruge died from his injuries a couple of days after the incident.
