Woman's body found tied up, burned in Detroit

Body found on city's West Side

DETROIT – A woman's body was found tied up and burned on the West Side of Detroit Saturday morning.

"A lot of people over here are pretty upset about this," said Larry Williams, who lives near where the body was found.

Williams is hoping he doesn't know the woman who was found near an alley in his West Side neighborhood. Investigators spent hours at the scene on Puritan & Kentucky collecting evidence, taking pictures, trying to figure out how she died and who's responsible.

Police say it could take a couple of days to determine the woman's identity.

Someone walking by this morning noticed the body and called police.

"Whoever found her back here, I know that was devastating," Williams said. "I've been over here 47 years. I played baseball back here as a kid, football. We ran up on a few things back here but not no one naked, burned up and tied up."

Investigators believe she was killed in another location and her body was dumped here.

As police search for the killer neighbors are promising to look out for each other.

"We're let down. We're disappointed," Williams said. "We're going to find out what this is all about."
