World's largest dog, Zeus, stops by pet event in Madison Heights

Zeus stands 7 foot 4 inches while on his hind legs

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – A Michigan dog considered to be the world's largest dog made an appearance Saturday at an event in Madison Heights.

Zeus, a Great Dane from Ostego, which is near Kalamazoo, was just one of the furry friends at the pet expo and adoption event hosted by the Guardian for Animals group.

The group is dedicated to rescuing and caring for abandoned and abused animals.

The Guinness World Records 2013 book says Zeus is the world's tallest dog. He stands 7-foot-4 while on his hind legs. Zeus is just an inch taller than the previous tallest dog, Giant George.

While Zeus is not up for adoption, there are others who are looking for a new home.

The event is free and runs on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Madison Place, 876 Horace Drive, Madison Heights.

There will also be contests, microchipping services, pet and family photography and pet goodies for sale.
